I Want That

Why is it I always want what I can’t have? I expect it from my two year old, even tolerate it from my five year old but I am an adult. An extremely mature adult. Come on, I even pay attention to politics and eat Cream of Wheat and say things like, “When I was a kid…” My point is, I really ought to have outgrown this by now. Its especially bad when I’m pregnant. Probably because there are so many things I’m not allowed to have, so many things I can’t really do right now. And suddenly I Really, really want it! Things like:

1. Trying Sushi. Raw fish just sounds SO good.
2. Joining an aerobics class. I’ve never been athletic and time’s a-wastin’!
3. Purchasing Skinny Jeans.
4. Going tanning. I’ve never been into this, and I’m so white I doubt my skin even absorbs color. Still…
5. Fasting. Or going somewhere without bringing a purse full of snacks would suffice.
6. Taking up biking. Not black-leather-chaps biking. Bicycle biking. And if I happen to wear black leather chaps it will be totally coincidental.
8. Jumping on the trampoline. It just sounds like such fun.
9. Keeping an immaculate house. Because goodness knows I don’t have the energy for it right now.
10. Becoming a belt-wearer. I haven’t really worn a belt since the metal-studded one from my pre-marriage punk-wannabe days. But I have recently noticed how beautiful belts truly are. *sigh* A waist to fit a belt around- THAT would be exciting.
Hey, I know I’m being lame. After all, I AM pregnant. Its a temporary and totally worthwhile feat. Five more months and I will have a new baby in my arms, plenty of opportunity to get back into shape. And trying Sushi will be the last thing on my mind. No doubt I’ll be more preoccupied with getting a full-night’s sleep.
